Day 437 - Music

Music gets me through. Through difficult times, bad moods or a chore I simply dread. Today was no different. My in-laws are visiting this weekend and there was so much to do. I've had a sick kid home for over a week and so many chores had been pushed to the wayside. Just turn up the music and chores are almost a joy to complete. Almost. (At least there was joy in the music!)

Day 104 - Music, Sweet Music

After a weekend outdoors, and little focus indoors, the house was a bit of a mess. But yesterday and today, while the kids were in school, I turned up the tunes and cleaned, straightened, washed and folded. And this afternoon, as I look around the house, I see order and shiny sinks. I can't believe how much I got done. And it all went by so quickly thanks to my ipod cranked up, playing on the shuffle mode. Favorite music made the chores fly by. Thank you music! You bring me joy!

Day 36 - Song

I heard a song on the radio today and it just transformed my mood. I was crabby. I woke up late. We had to do the dreaded dash-about to get out the door in time to get everyone to school. When we rush about my kids get crabby, too. It's a nasty downward spiral I try to avoid. I was able to make everyone happy again during our 30 minute ride to school but even after they happily bounced out of the car I went back to being crabby. So I turned on the radio and there it was. A happy song. A song that is deliriously happy. I turned it up. I sang along and now I am much better for it. Joy in song!

Day 20 - Piano

I'm so glad my mother made me keep up with my piano lessons. I'm not that good. But I can read the music. I can plunk out a few songs still. And I love being able to sit at the piano and transport myself for awhile. I wish I still practiced. I wish I could play more challenging music. I wish I had that gift to play by ear. But I can't. What I CAN do is practice what I do know. It is such a beautiful instrument and I love the few classical pieces I can play. So let's start there. I'll begin with my limited skills and be thankful that I can play at all because the piano brings me joy.
