We're almost to the end of the season. I promise. And I know I've used this joy quite a bit - but it's true. Soccer = joy in this house. Even my youngest, who complained when the season first started, is loving it. He can't wait until next season and wants to request the same coach. (And his coach truly is wonderful!) I just love watching my kids participate in the activities that bring them joy. So yeah, soccer brings me joy, too!
The boys have started their fall soccer season and it is a hoot! Six and seven year olds are too funny to watch. Some have this killer instinct, pumping their fists in the air when they make a goal. Others (like one of mine) are like Lucy from Peanuts. Watching the clouds go by, looking for four leaf clovers. Some are more interested in winning. While others can't wait for water breaks and snack time. So much fun to watch. Soccer Saturdays will absolutely bring joy.
My boys have soccer camp this week. My oldest son was anxious about it. He typically is about change. And while he's done this particular soccer camp before, he was anticipating not enjoying it this year. He spoke to me about his worries and I told him he was going to have a blast. Today, he came home all excited. Rattling on about how he scored a goal and he learned a new trick and how his team won the first game but not the second. Then he looked at me, flushed with excitement and said, "Mom? Remember when you said I'd have a blast at soccer camp this year? Well, you were right!" Ah, the joys of soccer camp!
